The very first time I ever saw Chavo wrestling was in 1983 when I went to Southwest Championship
Wrestling. His skills were fascinating. The first time I was privileged to wrestle him was when we flew into
St. Louis, Mo for a special match in the Checker Dome.
The tag teams consisted of Chavo and Al Perez vs. Macho Man Randy Savage and myself Ken Timbs.
He showed me several new ways of doing wrestling holds during the course of the match. The match was
fantastic and smooth. This tag team event was scheduled to go only twelve minutes but it went for twenty.
When it came time for the finish, Chavo went to the top rope and did a flying head scissors. The timing
and skill was impeccable when he applied this move to Macho Man.
I view Chavo Sr. as the very best of all the Guerrero brothers to wrestle. Don't get me wrong, all of them
are extremely good, but his wrestling excelled. He proved himself many times to be a great technician as
well as a high flyer. His interchangeable styles as well as his philosophy and timing were the very best the
wrestling business had to offer.
